Hi all. It has been a while. I’ve had draft’s of blog entries but have not posted in a loooooong time.
So, I’m trying to make up for it…
Here is a trip I took to the city of Zwolle, Netherlands to see an Earthship. An earthship is completely autonomous. You don’t need to be connected to the electrical grid or the sewage grid. It uses discarded glass bottles, cans and rubber tyres to build the walls. It uses crop plants to filter the water you use so when you’re cooking, you can walk to the hallway, pluck a few herbs and spices. It uses solar panels for electrical energy. The walls are tyre size thick so it has great thermal mass capacity, ie. keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter. You take care of your sewage, you take care of your food, you take care of your water treatment and energy… I would like to build me one.
The Zwolle Old City Town Centre is also very cool. I absolutely loved riding through it.
Here for a bite more of Earthship and Zwolle city centre

Cool to the Castle, cool to the Earthship, or cool to both? I was thrilled by both. I completely WOW’ed while on my bike when I saw that Castle like place. I was even more excited when I saw I was to ride THROUGH it.

Yeah, it is a public park. Actually it is a nature reserve park. It is actually a thee huis (tea house) serving real fresh herbal teas. But many people build these earthships as houses.
I miss the family reunion. How sad.
